IT IS RARE TO FIND A BIBLE OF THIS AGE, AND ONE THAT IS SO INTACT AND SOLID
THIS IS AN 1801, LEATHER COVERED, LARGE FAMILY BIBLE ONCE BELONGING TO THE FAMILY OF ABRAHAM VAN EPS.
THIS BIBLE CONTAINS FOUR PAGES OF FAMILY RECORDS AND THE DATES EXTEND FROM 1764 TO 1890
THE EARLIEST ENTRY IS:
"ABRAHAM VAN EPS born the 20th Sept and baptised the 23rd of the same month Anno 1764,
by Dominy Vrooman."
THE SURNAMES IN THE BIBLE ARE VAN EPS, UNDERHILL, FREY, YOUNG, GLEN, KELLOGG, BURCHARD, AND HARVEY.
THE BIBLE WAS PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY M. L. & W. A. DAVIS IN NEW YORK IN 1801.
THE BIBLE IS INTACT AND SOLID, WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THE TITLE PAGE FOR THE OLD TESTAMENT IS MISSING, ALONG WITH ABOUT THE FIRST TWO PAGES OF GENESIS.
THE BIBLE IS 9" X 11" IN SIZE AND IS LEATHER COVERED.
IT APPEARS THAT THERE WERE NO FORMAL FAMILY RECORDS PAGES IN THE BIBLE.
THE FOUR PAGES OF RECORDS ARE ON PARCHMENT TYPE PAPER AND WERE GLUED INTO THE BIBLE IN FRONT OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. I WILL TRANSCRIBE THESE RECORDS EXACTLY AS THEY ARE IN THE BIBLE.

On the 20th day of January 1830 being Wednesday at 2 Oclock in the morning my wife Sarah {Underhill} was delivered of a Son Still born, but of full growth and perfect form, Whose name I had intended should have been Abr'm Underhill Van Eps. but God in his providential dispensation has thought best to deprive us of this mutual pledge of our love and hope to our great grief and sorrow, but O Lord enable us to bare with this disapointment as those that firmly submit to thy will.

I HAVE A SECOND BIBLE, WHICH IS RELATED TO THIS BIBLE. IT IS AN 1806 BIBLE, ONCE BELONGING TO THE UNDERHILL FAMILY
THE RELATIONSHIP IS THE FACT THAT ABRAHAM VAN EPS (above) MARRIED SARAH UNDERHILL AND THIS SECOND BIBLE HAS THE FAMILY RECORDS FOR SARAH, HER PARENTS AND HER SIBLINGS.
