Welcome to :
MY GENEALOGIES
The links at the right will take you to pages containing research material for several families. I am working towards publications on all of these families, except perhaps, the Courtade family, and I am still considering that one.
At present, many of these sites are not searchable with the Home Page search engine, because they reside on different servers. Eventually, I will have all of the data on this server. I have included a little explanation of each family in the paragraphs below this, so you can determine whether or not it is worth your while to go to these other web sites.
YORKS
Our Yorks family (as opposed to the Pennsylvania Yorks family) was established in this country by the immigrant Paulus Jurcksem (many spellings) who probably came from the Netherlands or Friesland. He showed up in Fort Orange (now Albany, NY) in 1650, married there and raised his family in that area, before migrating down to the Haverstraw and Philipsburgh area of New York.
Descendants of Paulus Jurcksem now have surnames of Yorks, Yerks, Yerxa, Yourex, Yerex and probably a couple of more that I don't yet know. The Yorks line, for the most part, seem to have spread westward (rather than south) through New York state and subsequently all the way to the west coast.
